History
Trent Lakes Township is a municipality in Peterborough County. The township was formed in 1998 when the Townships of Galway-Cavendish and Harvey, and the Village of Bobcaygeon amalgamated. The area was originally inhabited by the Mississauga First Nations people and later became an important logging and milling center in the mid-19th century. The region's waterways, including the Trent Severn Waterway, played an essential role in the economic development of the area, enabling goods to be transported from the interior to the markets in the Great Lakes region.
