History

Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Township, often referred to as simply Havelock, is a township located in Peterborough County. The area was originally inhabited by the Mississauga First Nation, who used the area as hunting grounds. European settlement began in the early 19th century, with the construction of a sawmill and grist mill in the town of Havelock. The arrival of the railway in the 1860s spurred further growth and development, leading to the establishment of several other settlements in the area. The township has a rich agricultural history and was a major centre for logging and lumbering in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, Havelock-Belmont-Methuen is a popular destination for outdoor recreation and is known for its scenic beauty and peaceful rural lifestyle.

Havelock Country Jamboree
