History
Kawartha Lakes is an amalgamated township located in Central Ontario, Canada, and was formed in 2001 through the amalgamation of several municipalities, including the city of Lindsay. The name "Kawartha" is derived from the Anishinaabe word "ka-wa-tha" which means "land of shining waters," referencing the many lakes and waterways in the region.
